BURGLARS BREAK THROUGH WALL, TAKE JEWELRY
Tokyo, Japan - July 1, 2010


During the night burglars climbed an external staircase to the sixth floor of the main Tobu Department store, and made a hole in the wall. Hydraulic jacks and saws were found nearby. Several showcases containing mostly watches were broken into and the watches and jewelry taken. An alarm sounded at 3:20 a.m. when the showcases were attacked. Police suspect the theft was committed by a non-Japanese Asian gang dubbed the "Bakusetsudan" (explosive theft group).
  ITALIAN POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED MEMBER OF PINK PANTHER GANG
Rome, Italy - May 14, 2010


Interpol announced that Italian police had arrested a suspected member of the Pink Panther gang, Radovan Jelusic, a 39-year-old Montenegrin national, who was in possession of a forged Croatian passport. Jelusic is suspected of involvement in the 2007 armed robbery of a jewelry store in Tokyo. Interpol has also stated that two other Pink Panther gang members were arrested in Montenegro two weeks before this latest arrest. Interpol describes the Pink Panthers as a gang of up to 200, many of whom are Serbian nationals with military experience, and estimates that their robberies have yielded jewelry merdchandise worth more than 250 million euros over the last ten years.
FOUR JEWELRY STORE OWNERS KILLED; A DOZEN STORES ROBBED

At 8:00 a.m. a group of 20 men dressed in black and wearing black masks burst into shops in Al Bazarah market. The armed suspects began shooting into stores. After shooting and killing four store owners, the suspects fled with a large quantity of gold jewelry. Authorities said it may have been an effort to finance insurgent groups.
  GEM ROBBERY AT SWEDISH AUCTION HOUSE
Stockholm, Sweden - May 27, 2010


Three armed, masked suspects entered one of Sweden's most prominent auction houses around lunchtime during a Spring showing and took $1.5 million in jewelry. They fled in a car which was later found abandoned. No one was injured in the robbery. One of the pieces taken was described as a collar with white and yellow diamonds with a starting price between 800,000 and 1 million kronor.
